Ep. 95 - Two Things That Change Pain
Tuesday Aug 13, 2019
Tuesday Aug 13, 2019
In this episode, we continue to seek answers to the question: Why do we age? Many researchers now believe it is inflammation that accelerates the aging process. Let me share with you just a few keys to help you break the inflammation response this week (more coming next week). Though, very simple and easy to do, the majority of people listening within the sound of my voice won’t do them.

Ep. 94 - Why Inflammation Is Killing You
Tuesday Aug 06, 2019
Tuesday Aug 06, 2019
Why do we age? Is it because our cells possess some internal clock so when the sand runs out of the hourglass, per se, we die? Why do we age? Is it because our cells possess some internal clock so when the sand runs out of the hourglass, per se, we die? Let me share a quick email I was sent years ago by a client: Dear TiAja, I spent SO much time at the Drs... All the tests... NOTHING! I limped out of the Dr's office after all the tests and was referred to the next... each telling me... I needed a Psychiatrist...!!!! I was told my pain was ALL in my head...!!! I have not been back to the doctors since. Sound familiar? If so, listen carefully to Why Inflammation Is Killing You.

Ep. 93 - Why Cells Die
Tuesday Jul 30, 2019
Tuesday Jul 30, 2019
Why do we age? Is it because our cells possess some internal clock so when the sand runs out of the hourglass, per se, we die? Why do we age? Is it because our cells possess some internal clock so when the sand runs out of the hourglass, per se, we die? And what does aging look like, wrinkles in the face, brown spots on the hands? Does age appear with the greying of the hair or the dimming of one’s sight? Or is aging something more complicated and intricate altogether? Are the so-called signs of aging nothing more than symptoms of something else going on deep inside the cell? Still, why do cells die?

Ep. 92 - The Wear And Tear Of Aging
Tuesday Jul 16, 2019
Tuesday Jul 16, 2019
Why do we age?
Is it because our cells possess some internal clock so when the sand runs out of the hourglass, per se, we die? Or is it as some theories suggest, our parts merely wear down and out by some of the same processes that cause the metal to rust or an apple sitting on a countertop to rot? If you believe this (and millions do) then you subscribe to what is known as the free radical theory. So, is there such a thing as the wear and tear of aging?

Ep. 91 - Can You Stop Aging?
Tuesday Jul 09, 2019
Tuesday Jul 09, 2019
The idea that our bodies wear out and succumb to the forces of entropy like everything else we see around us – our cars, our houses, our furniture, our clothes, and electrical devices, has dominated the narrative of human science for centuries. It has certainly dominated the field of gerontology and other biological sciences in one form or another since August Weismann developed his theory of why we age in the 1880s. So, what is entropy as it relates to the human body? In this episode, we examine the fascinating research and discoveries, that could potentially make diseases like cancer and Alzheimer’s a thing of the past, being touted in such fields of science as quantum mechanics, physics and nanotechnology. So, can you stop again? Take a listen…

Ep. 90 - Why We Age
Tuesday Jul 02, 2019
Tuesday Jul 02, 2019
Consider this: the Greenland Shark can live for more than 400 years and appears to remain physically fit and fertile to the end.
Or this: there is a jellyfish that swims in the Mediterranean and the seas around Japan whose individuals are capable of reverting back to the larval state and regrow to adulthood countless times. In a sense, it is biologically immortal.
The question of exactly how and why we age has titillated scientific minds for centuries, yet there is no agreement, let alone a useful answer. There are a myriad of competing theories and will touch on most of them in succeeding weeks. But today, I’d like to examine the one theory I most think speaks to what most likely believe. And that is, our bodies have a sort of built-in obsolescence of tissues. The ‘disposable soma’ theory portends that once you and I have passed our reproductive years that nature no longer has much use for us.
